The opening ceremony drew a galaxy of distinguished guests. Ambassador Xiao Qian of China to Australia attended in person, standing alongside His Excellency Andrew Robb, Chair of the ACETIE Organizing Committee and former Australian Minister for Trade and Investment; Danny Pearson, Victorian Minister for Economic Growth, Jobs and Treasury; Gareth Evans, former Foreign Minister, former Chancellor and Distinguished Professor at Australian National University; Fang Xinwen, Consul General of China in Melbourne; Li Mang, President of the Chinese Chamber of Commerce; Ma Lei, Chief Representative of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade in Australia; His Excellency Bruce Atkinson, Executive Chairman of ACETIE and former President of the Victorian Legislative Council; and Chijie Chao, Commercial Counsellor of the Chinese Consulate in Melbourne, among other dignitaries and business leaders.

The exhibition vividly showcased the vast prospects and dynamic vitality of multi-sector economic and trade cooperation between China and Australia.
Dazzling Moment 3: Summit Forums — Inspiring Ideas, Pursuing Win–Win Collaboration
If the opening ceremony marked the curtain-raiser of this year’s Expo, the subsequent main forum and parallel forums represented the intellectual summit and feast of ideas for the entire event.
The main forum was packed to capacity, bringing together heavyweight guests from politics, business, and academia to engage in in-depth discussions on bilateral trade, policy trends, and industrial cooperation. With warm applause, hosts Zhang Li and Ms. Virginia Birrell, CEO of the Australia-China Business Council (ACBC) Victoria and Tasmania, officially opened this symphony of wisdom.
Chairman Andrew Robb delivered a heartfelt address, reflecting on the remarkable history of Australia–China cooperation. He highlighted the complementary strengths of the two economies and vividly described China’s rapid advancements in fields such as artificial intelligence and new energy, drawn from his own visits to the country. He expressed strong confidence that Australia and China will continue to write new chapters of mutual success through innovative cooperation.
Ambassador Xiao Qian of China to Australia showcased the vision of major-power diplomacy. He emphasized that Australia–China collaboration not only injects new momentum into both economies but also contributes to regional prosperity and global development. His remarks conveyed firm confidence and high expectations for future cooperation.
As a long-time participant, Professor Gareth Evans, former Foreign Minister, provided a calm and insightful analysis of uncertainties in great-power dynamics from an international relations perspective. He stressed that differences should not be obstacles; what truly matters is finding pathways to mutual benefit through pragmatic cooperation and sustained dialogue.
The forum’s culminating moment was the official release of the ACETIE Declaration, which stated:
"On the occasion of the 10th anniversary of the Australia–China Free Trade Agreement, ACETIE 2025 is committed to promoting and deepening trade and investment cooperation between Australia and China, advancing sustainable growth, innovative development, and mutual understanding, and opening new horizons for collaborative progress." Every word resonated with determination—both a summary and a commitment, both a vision and a call to action.
Beyond the main forum, this year’s parallel forums were fully upgraded, featuring a broad and profound range of topics: from trade and tariffs to robotics, electric vehicles, and artificial intelligence; from Chinese smart manufacturing to wellness and healthcare; from economic and trade venture investment to innovations in mobile “space capsule” housing; from international expansion of enterprises to Chinese-language literature. Whether focused on hard economic sectors or soft cultural influence, these three days provided rich opportunities for display, discussion, and exchange. Sparks of thought and clashing viewpoints illuminated the intersections of different fields.
As some observers have said, exhibitions allow us to see the present, while forums allow us to see the future. Through these high-level dialogues, both Australia and China listened, understood, and built multiple bridges spanning economic and cultural realms. As the forums concluded, many attendees remained inspired, eager to turn ideas into action and consensus into concrete cooperation.

Dazzling Moment 5: Cake Surprise — Celebrating the 10th Anniversary of the Australia–China Free Trade Agreement
During the afternoon main forum on the opening day, the 10th anniversary of the Australia–China Free Trade Agreement (ChAFTA) became a focal point. Following the conclusion of the themed forum on “Trade and Tariffs,” a giant cake bearing the ACETIE logo was wheeled onto the spacious, well-lit stage. Inscribed in both Chinese and English was the message: “Celebrating the 10th Anniversary of the Australia–China Free Trade Agreement.” Measuring 1.2 meters long and 60 centimeters wide, this fruit and cream cake was meticulously crafted by Melbourne’s renowned pastry company, Sam Baking High, which sponsored the creation. Its arrival immediately elevated the atmosphere of the forum to a new high.
As one of the Australian signatories of ChAFTA, Mr. Andrew Robb has, over the past decade, united political and business leaders from both countries, tirelessly promoting the agreement and fostering bilateral economic growth and prosperity. The Australia–China Economic Trade & Investment Expo (ACETIE) emerged as a result of these efforts. Filled with emotion, Mr. Robb stepped onto the stage to lead the ceremonial cake-cutting, eliciting thunderous applause and countless flashes as this unforgettable moment was captured.
During the tea break, hundreds of guests shared the delicious anniversary cake, celebrating a decade of cooperation under ChAFTA. The cake at the Expo forum was more than a ceremonial gesture—it was a declaration: in today’s complex and ever-changing global economic landscape, the close economic collaboration between Australia and China, and their steadfast commitment to globalization, represents both a meaningful and the only viable choice.

Dazzling Moment 6: Vibrant Activities — Diverse Exchanges Lighting Up the Expo
If the exhibitor displays inside the halls were the “hardcore engine” of this year’s Expo, then the lively on-site activities served as the “cultural spark” igniting the atmosphere. Across the main venue and secondary stages, events were seamlessly interconnected, allowing visitors to feel as if they were immersed in a cross-border carnival.
The main venue of the 2025 ACETIE was Gate 1, adjacent to a spacious and prominent performance area—the ACETIE Performing Arts Zone—attracting visitors from both sides of the Yarra River. Over the three days, under the direction of Art Director Ms. Xu Xiaoli, more than 100 art groups performed 108 outstanding programs.
Following the opening ceremony, artistic performances from both Australia and China infused the Expo with a rich cultural atmosphere. The melodious notes of the guzheng intertwined with dynamic Western string music, eliciting rounds of applause. On the central stage, Hanfu fashion shows complemented local Australian performances, blending Eastern and Western cultures into a unique visual feast.
At the same time, industry forums and themed salons were packed with attendees. Topics including new energy, artificial intelligence, and cross-border e-commerce attracted authoritative guests and enterprise representatives from politics, business, and academia to share insights, sparking dynamic exchanges of ideas. Many young entrepreneurs actively engaged experts after the forums, creating a vibrant atmosphere of scholarship and innovation.
In the interactive experience zones, audience enthusiasm was equally high. Intelligent robots at technology booths captured children’s attention, who excitedly interacted and took photos with them. In the traditional culture zone, calligraphy, kung fu, and tea art displays fascinated many foreign visitors, who eagerly tried their hand at these experiences, gaining a firsthand appreciation of Eastern culture. One local attendee remarked, “This is not just an exhibition—it’s an immersive cross-cultural journey.”
Over the three days, beyond the performing arts, more than twenty major interactive events were held, including forums, banquets, lectures, roadshows, business matching, bilingual signage, and signing ceremonies. Every moment on site reflected the value of exchange and mutual learning. From academic forums to cultural performances, from business matchmaking to interactive experiences, ACETIE 2025 was not just a stage for exhibitors—it was an international platform where ideas converged, cultures blended, and cooperation flourished.

Dazzling Moment 7: Starry Night Celebration — Gala Dinner & Awards Ceremony
On a crisp early spring evening in Melbourne, stars sparkled along the Yarra River. On August 14, following the conclusion of the day’s Expo activities, political and business elites, along with specially invited guests from both Australia and China, gathered at the Sovereign Ballroom of the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre to witness the grand 2025 ACETIE Gala Dinner and Awards Ceremony. Under glittering lights, amidst clinking glasses, lively conversations blended with melodious music, creating a jubilant symphony that marked the evening’s peak.
The dinner commenced with the solemn joint rendition of the national anthems of Australia and China. Representatives from politics, business, and culture delivered speeches one after another. The Expo Organizing Committee Chair and former Australian Minister for Trade and Investment, His Excellency Andrew Robb, opened with a warm “Hello,” reflecting on decades of Australia–China economic cooperation, emphasizing the importance of mutual trust and openness, and calling on both nations to uphold free trade and resist protectionism. Subsequently, representatives from the Victorian government, Consul General Fang Xinwen of China in Melbourne, and other dignitaries and industry leaders took the stage, expressing strong confidence and high expectations for the future of bilateral cooperation. Every round of applause echoed the eagerness to deepen exchanges.
As the speeches concluded, the stage was illuminated with brilliant lighting. The New Oriental Arts Troupe performed traditional Chinese ensembles such as “Dance of the Golden Snake” and “General’s Command”, awakening the enthusiasm of all guests; the Australian Arts Troupe presented excerpts from the classic opera The Phantom of the Opera, transporting the audience into a dreamlike artistic realm; and the cross-cultural collaboration “Story of the Plum Blossom”, featuring Chinese traditional music and Aboriginal Australian instruments, elevated the fusion of Eastern and Western culture to a climax. In that moment, music and culture transcended language, resonating directly with the hearts of the audience.

Amid clinking glasses, laughter of friendship intertwined with pledges of collaboration; amid songs and applause, the grand blueprint of bilateral relations slowly unfolded. The Gala Dinner and Awards Ceremony were not only a celebration of excellence but also a spiritual gathering that consolidated faith and envisioned the future. Under the starry night and shimmering lights, ACETIE 2025 reached its most brilliant chord.

Dazzling Moment 9: On-Site Matchmaking — Businesses Seize Opportunities Across Industries
Strolling through the 2025 ACETIE, visitors could experience varied scenes across different exhibition areas—sometimes bustling like a storm, sometimes flowing gently like spring rain. At the heart of it all were the diverse dialogues and exchanges between exhibitors, as well as between local buyers and Chinese exhibitors.
To support Chinese enterprises going global, the organizers engaged deeply with strong local commercial institutions and organizations, arranging pre-event communications and matchmaking with participating exhibitors. For instance, the Australian Farmers Association and the Australian Robotics Association set up booths to directly learn about and engage with China’s “new-quality productivity” products. The Shanghai General Chamber of Commerce coordinated with the Shanghai Industrial Cooperation Association delegation; the Australia–China Business Bridge and Shandong Chamber of Commerce connected with the Qingdao Business Delegation; the Australian Henan Business Association liaised with the Henan Business Delegation; the Australian Tourism Group and Guangdong Dianbai Chamber of Commerce connected with the Maoming Business Delegation; the Australian Qin Business Preparatory Committee coordinated with the Xi’an Business Bureau delegation; the Melbourne City Business Group engaged with the Tianjin Hong Kong Chamber of Commerce delegation; and the Sichuan business community worked with the Sichuan Abraham Business Platform, among others. These pre-arranged communications and matchmakings were conducted meticulously and yielded excellent results.
These exchanges facilitated effective interaction between Australian and Chinese exhibitors. Chinese enterprises and brands discovered pathways to international markets, while Australian businesses gained valuable opportunities. Across the three-day Expo, signing ceremonies were frequent, with preliminary and final agreements exceeding AUD 2 billion, highlighting the tangible commercial outcomes of ACETIE 2025.

Dazzling Moment 10: Never Ending — Post-Expo Continuation and Australian Market Landing
The three-day Expo passed in the blink of an eye, yet the impact and resonance of ACETIE 2025 linger far beyond its conclusion. On the afternoon of August 16, as the final lecture ended and the crowds gradually dispersed, the Expo drew to a close amid warmth, emotion, and reluctant farewells. But as all attendees agreed in their hearts—this was not an ending, but a new beginning.
Reflecting on the three days of activity: from high-level dialogues to enterprise signings, from the collision of ideas to cultural exchanges, from exhibition halls to gala dinners, Australia and China together, with openness and pragmatic collaboration, painted a compelling picture of mutual benefit and shared progress.
At the farewell, many new and old friends exchanged contacts, shared business opportunities, and reflected on their gains. The market director of the modular capsule company, Ms. Si Jie, told reporters that the three days had been non-stop, and even during the final dismantling of the booth, nearly ten interested clients were still inquiring about installation details. A Chinese smart wheelchair manufacturer excitedly shared that, although a large batch of samples arrived late, their products immediately caught clients’ attention and were sold on-site, giving them strong confidence in the Australian market. They pledged to prepare earlier next year and bring even more high-quality products to ACETIE.

Ms. Guo Na, General Manager of Herbtwin, a high-tech women’s health brand, noted that the Expo further enhanced brand awareness and attracted a significant following, describing the experience as a fruitful success. Laifeng Township Investment, focusing on local Laifeng vine tea and related products, successfully established their products in Australia, gaining strong customer demand; Vice General Manager Duan Zhenya expressed full satisfaction with the Expo experience. Yunnan Baiyao made its Australian debut at ACETIE, earning enthusiastic reception; young Australian distributor Nancy Yang shared both the pressure and motivation of representing a top Chinese healthcare brand. The second-time participant, Mr. Zou Yuanhua, CEO of the renowned Chinese robotics company Wandechang, was thrilled to see the rising proportion and popularity of AI and robotics products at ACETIE. As a high-tech enterprise affiliated with the Chinese Academy of Sciences, they are eager to maintain close collaboration with ACETIE, promising to bring more peers and advanced products to the 2026 Expo.
As the last booth was dismantled and the final cooperation agreements signed, the curtain fell on ACETIE 2025. Yet many stories were quietly taking root—collaboration plans discussed at booths, sparks of inspiration from forums, and friendly exchanges after cultural performances—each destined to grow and develop in the days ahead.
Farewell! For many exhibitors, though people departed, their hearts and products remained. To help them continue this presence, the organizers, in partnership with the WTC Melbourne, established the Australia-China Exhibition & Trade Center, launching a 90-day free “post-expo exhibition” program. This provided exhibitors with comprehensive post-event display and market promotion services, ensuring a smooth landing in Australia. Through this initiative, more than twenty exhibitors successfully continued their presence in Australia via the Trade Center, leaving participants reassured and satisfied.
In this early spring August, the banks of the Yarra River witnessed a new chapter of Australia–China cooperation. As the Expo concluded, we could clearly hear the echoes of the future—crossing oceans to connect, focusing on the present to shape a shared vision.
